Activity Aspects of the Institute
The principal activity aspects of the Institute are social economic and other researches and their realization, elaboration and realization of technological and economic projects, publishing, preparation of scientific and technological information and services in their use, educational activities.
The researchers of the Institute carry out approximately 20 research projects annually, among them also the financed by Latvian Council of Science individual academic researches obtained on the basis of competition, participate in two cooperation projects.
Additionally to academic researches, the Institute carry out researches commissioned by other organisations – ministries and other government institutions of the Republic of Latvia, clients of the public and private sector. In cooperation with other partners, the researchers maintain the style, subject-matter and high research quality characteristic to academic researches. The leading researchers of the Institute are participants of state level working groups and commissions.
The Institute possess a vast experience of international activities, and several researchers of the Institute are internationally known experts.
For many years, the Institute is the National centre of the European foundation of improvement of life and labour conditions that was founded by the European Commission.
Since 2000, the Institute cooperates with the World Economic Forum, preparing the ranking of worldwide known states according to the World Competitiveness index and other World Economic Forum estimations derived from it.
The results of the more relevant researches are included in the published by the Institute books and in other sources. The research results of the team for demographic researches are published in the editions of the State Strategic Analysis Commission. The contribution of researchers may be found also in publications of Latvian higher schools, in materials of local and international conferences, and in foreign publications.
